What would happen if Superman converted to Fundamental Christianity?
Would he practise it as Clark Kent, Superman or both? How would he reconcile the being born on Krypton story the Kents told him as a boy? Would he quote scripture to the bad guys?
Interesting you should mention Superman.
As you may know his father was Jor El or Kal El.. . and baby supey was sent to Earth . Kind of a interesting parody of Jesus born of El sent to Earth for find refuge but he ends up saving the Earth from horrible criminals.
El is the first known name of God in the Old Testament. Later God became known as Yahweh.
It is interesting also the idea that he was sent to Earth , had special powers like X ray vision, flight, he was faster than a locomotive , etc.
His girl friends are LL or EL EL Lana Lane, Lois Lane.. It is just a series of interesting coincidences.
Even Clark Kent becomes a newspaper reporter. Someone who brings the good news, fellow Yahoonians. So he is a mild mannered reporter kind of like the carpenter's kid , he changes in a phone book into Superman. It is kind of like the carpenter gets killed and then is really obviously the Son of God, the graves open up and the formerly dead walk around , the veil in the temple is split down the middle. It all reminds me of Superman pulling off his Clark Kent suit to show himself as the real hero.
I don't think he would do a lot of things differently . He even goes off to a Fortress of Solitude and sends criminals to a phantom zone which is like another universe. It is temporary kind of like purgatory for criminals
